Cafeterias in Edison Local Schools will be getting an upgrade after the district received a $40,000 grant to add new ergonomic tables at the three buildings.
District Administrative Assistant Fatima Smuck said Edison obtained funding through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation School Safety and Security Grant and Edison High School, John Gregg Elementary and Stanton Elementary will be outfitted with 46 new mobile stool cafeteria tables in time for the next school year. The allocation is a portion of the overall $71,083 cost with the estimated $31,000 remainder covered by the district.
Smuck, who serves as food service director, said the furniture will come in the school colors of gray and black and will provide more relative ease when moved for events.
“It helps to use [the cafeteria] as an all-purpose room,” she added. “They are new ergonomic tables that can properly be lifted and moved so it can provide less health and safety concerns for our students and personnel.”
The award should arrive over the next eight weeks and Edison should have the tables on hand shortly afterward.
