Going Up

Fifth- and sixth-graders at John Gregg Elementary headed outdoors for a little science experiment. Fifth-graders designed and constructed water-powered plastic bottle rockets to understand pressure and aerodynamics while the upperclassmen created hot air balloons using tissue paper to learn why hot air is lighter than cooler air. The students launched their inventions while their schoolmates looked on. Among the students pictured with their balloon are, from left, Lucas Peterson, Carmen Bitgood, Jordan Thomas and Dallas Gotschall with teachers Brooke Barker and Tally Paisuk.
