Seniors Recognized at Banquet

Edison High School seniors were in the spotlight during the 2019 Honors Banquet on May 19.

   Students were recognized for their academic achievements and with scholarships during the event at The Countryside in East Springfield. EHS Principal Matt Morrison welcomed the crowd and guidance counselor Samanda Pepperling served as program announcer while Senior Class President Julia Purks and Vice President Brennan Scott respectively provided the invocation and benediction. Twenty-one gold Beta cords were given to senior club members while 26 silver and 31 black honors cords were also dispersed. Scholarships, academic letters and other awards were then distributed throughout the evening.

   Academic letters went to students with a 3.0 GPA or above and first-year recipients were Sadara Allen, Aaliyah Arnold, Kaleb Briganti, Kylie Law, Bryce McAfoose, Logan Morrison and Hanna Smith, while second-year letters were awarded to Chessa Cunningham, Myakenzie Daugherty, Isabelle Freeland, Kayla Habbit, Stephanie Kinney, Breanna Leverett, Cassandra Reed, Blake Thomas, Thomas Thompson and Caroline Williamson. Third-year letter winners were Shannon Bahen, Lance McAfoose, Nathan Mizell, Angelique Monigold, Cassidy Neeley, Isaac Schmitz and Willis Sears and fourth-year recipients included Joseph Ash, Lexis Bocek, Damon Bonar, Abigail Booth, Nathan Cain, Nicholas Decker, Zachary Easter, Natasha Fedorka, Lauren Ferralli, Jared Findlay, Dominick Flenniken, Chloe Fray, Harlan Gump, Faith Hoobler, Salenna Hoover, Andrew Kinney, Hunter Klinesmith, Benjamin Kuntz, Ryan Laverick, Madisyn Mason, Kierra McClain, Mary McConnell, Gerald Nesbitt, Kenzi Potkrajac, Julia Purks, Kiersten Reese, Brennan Scott, Brianna Sheets, Anthony Sinicropi, Haley Sorg, Cameron Wadas, Riley Watson, Dominic Williams, Kyle Willison and Kayla Wood.

   The President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Outstanding Academic Excellence were given to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 to 4.0.    Meanwhile, Damon Bonar, Ryan Laverick and Isaac Schmitz were named valedictorians with Julia Purks as salutatorian. Rounding out the top 10 are Lauren Ferralli, Mary McConnell, Andrew Kinney, Madisyn Mason, Joseph Ash and Brennan Scott.
