The October Teacher of the Month at Edison High School is Mr. Greg Marsh. Mr. Marsh has been a teacher at Edison Local Schools for 3 years. Mr. Marsh has been teaching for 13 years total gaining experience in the Tuscarawas County area before coming to Edison. Mr. Marsh began his career at New Philadelphia for one year as an intervention specialist before serving Newcomerstown Middle School as an 8th Grade American History teacher and Washington, D.C. trip coordinator for the next 7 years. Mr. Marsh then taught Adaptive Physical Education at the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities for 2 years before joining the staff at Edison as a 7th and 8th Grade Math teacher. Mr. Marsh has also revived the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. and will lead the trip again this year. This will be his 9th year taking 8th grade students to Washington, D.C. overall and his 2nd trip as a Wildcat!
Mr. Marsh graduated from Claymont High School in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Mr. Marsh then attended the University of Akron where he was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education with certification in Math, Reading and Social Studies. Mr. Marsh returned to Muskingum University to further his education and earned a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership in 2014.
Mr. Marsh began his coaching career at his alma mater, where he coached Freshman and Varsity Football for 3 years. During this time, he also coached JV Baseball and was the head coach of the Summer League Program. Following his time at Claymont, Mr. Marsh was an assistant Varsity Football coach at New Philadelphia for 5 years, during which the team qualified for the OHSAA state playoffs twice. Marsh also coached JV Baseball for two years at New Philadelphia. In his final stop before Edison, Coach Marsh served 7 years as a varsity assistant at Newcomerstown. During his three years here, Marsh has served as a varsity assistant football coach, working with Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs.
Since arriving at Edison Mr. Marsh is proud that he has had a part in Edison Junior High’s rising Math scores and the return of the 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip. Outside of school, Mr. Marsh’s interests include fishing at Tappan Lake with his son’s, Vinny (10) and Nico (8), who attend New Philadelphia Schools. Mr. Marsh is also celebrating his marriage on September 28, 2019 to his new wife Megan. The family resides in Dennison, Ohio.
