Edison Junior High track opened the season last week with a home quad meet. The girls finished in 3rd place behind Beaver Local and Weir. The boys started the season off with a 2nd place finish behind Beaver Local.
Scoring for the girls’ team:
Alison Kireta started the year off strong blazing by the competition in the 100, 200, and 400-meter dash. Josie Lesnansky and Paige Somerville both made the scoreboard in the 800 and 1600. Rilee Givens took 4th in the 100 hurdles and Leila Cable 5th in the 200 hurdles. Jenn Beadnell scored 2nd in the high jump and Kaylee Summers came in 3rd in the long jump. Sophia Henderson and Maiah Christy took 1st and 2nd in the shot put. Lena Wagner brought home 3rd place in the discus with Christy scoring 5th as well. The girls’ 4×200 and 4×400 relays also both came in 3rd place.
For the boys’ team:
JJ Reynolds was off to a quick start taking 1st and 2nd in the 100 and 200-meter dash. Matt Evans and Nathan Green brought home 4th and 5th places in the 400 meter. Brock Koehnlein and Liam Westfall both scored in the 800 and 1600. Evans and Andrew Kirkman were on fire in the hurdles coming in 1st and 2nd in both races. Chase Freeman and JD Henderson scored 2nd and 3rd places in their first high jump event. Connor Watson scored 5th place in the long jump and 2nd in the discus. Owen Krepps got on the scoreboard with a 5th place finish in the discus also. The boys’ 4×100 relay took 3rd place.
All athletes had a great first meet, and we are excited to see what the future holds for these Wildcats!
