Cross Country Girls are OVAC Champs!

In a field of 40 schools racing at one time, the Varsity Girls team left nothing in their tanks at Cambridge High School and were crowned OVAC champions. With 196 runners total, the overall divisions were then broken apart to determine winners and medalists (top 10) by classes.  The results were impressive! 

  • Josie Lesnansky 4A runner-up
  • Annie Board 5th in 4A
  • Layla White 9th in 4A
  • Leila Cable 11th in 4A
  • Kennedy Baker 24th in 4A
  • Paige Somerville 25th in 4A

In the Varsity Boys division, 40 schools and 229 runners took the course.  In 4A results, the team finished 3rd overall behind St. Clairsville and Beaver Local.

  • Gage Cable (8th in 4A)- dropped 50 seconds for a season PR
  • Brock Koehnlein- over a minute faster than last week on the same course
  • Max McConnell- Career PR
  • Blaine Hoobler- Career PR
  • Luke Linscott- Career PR
  • Micah Larkins- 3 minutes faster than last week
  • Liam-Westfall season PR despite injury
  • Evin Wedlake- first race in a month due to injury!

In the Junior High races, every single Edison runner earned a career PR– some by over a minute.

  • Lydia Krepps crushed the course to a 5th place overall finish out of 162 runners.
  • Nate Kline earned 20th out of 178 runners.
  • Both crushed their goals!

(In the Junior High races, there are no division breakouts by class size.)

This week, the teams will compete in the OVCCL Championship race. Then the Varsity teams will head back to Cambridge for the Eastern District Championships.
