Swimmers Turn In Championship Performance at OVAC

Monday evening, with a full team effort, the Wildcat’s Men’s team took 3rd place and the Women’s 5th in the 4A competition at Brooke High School.  The meet was held, top 24, combined 1A – 4A swimmers entered in each event.  1A-4A top 3 places medaled and a total of 12 places scored. At the conclusion of the meet, the 4A scores were pulled and an Overall 1A – 3A Championship was awarded to both Linsly’s Men and Women.  The 4A Championship went to both St.Clairsville teams.

Congratulations to 1A – 4A OVAC Champion Gage Cable, 100 Breaststroke.  Additional Medals were earned by Micah Larkins, 2nd – 100 Breaststroke, the Men’s Medley Relay (3rd Buchanan, Larkins, Cable, and Linscott), and 200 Freestyle Relay (3rd Buchanan, Pudder, Larkins and Cable).

Every member of the Wildcat team had the opportunity to participate in the meet! The Men’s team (122) placed 4th, 1A – 4A and 3rd in 4A behind St. Clairsville (243) and Beaver (159.50). Placing and scoring for the men; 200 Medley Relay (Medal 3rd Buchanan, Larkins, Cable, Linscott), 200 Freestyle (10th Larkins), 50 Freestyle (9th Pudder), 100 Freestyle (10th Pudder, 12th Linscott), 500 Freestyle (5th Cable), 200 Freestyle Relay (Medal 3rd Buchanan, Pudder, Linscott, Cable), 100 Backstroke (11th Buchanan), 100 Breaststroke (OVAC Champion Cable, Medal 2nd Larkins), 400 Freestyle Relay (4th Buchanan, Larkins, Pudder, Linscott)

The Women’s team (57) placed 8th, 1A – 4A and 5th in 4A behind St.Clairsville (208), Indian Creek (193), Beaver Local (91), and Weir (59). Placing and scoring for the Women; 200 Medley Relay (7th Frampton, Cable, Speedy, Lucas), 200 Freestyle (11th Speedy), 50 Freestyle (7th Lucas), 100 Butterfly (8th Speedy), 100 Freestyle (8th Lucas, 12th Cable), 100 Breaststroke (9th Cable), 400 Freestyle Relay (7th Larkins, Cable, Speedy, Lucas).

The Wildcats also took the honor of the Lucky Duck award.  The traveling duck goes to the team each year receiving the most ducks from spectators and fellow competitors. 

The Wildcat Swim team members dropped some serious time in many individual events are looking forward to the upcoming Steubenville Invite on Saturday.
