The Edison Local School District will have some new officials on hand for safety and guidance when classes begin on Aug. 21. Superintendent Bill Beattie and Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. gathered with school resource officers who will be located at John Gregg and Stanton Elementary as well as Edison Jr./Sr. High School. Sheriff Abdalla said his office contracted with Edison to add an SRO at John Gregg amid the retirement of longtime SRO Mark Clark, who also served as Bergholz Police Chief and Springfield Township Constable. The district will fully fund the positions for 12 months as well as cover costs for training and equipment. Deputy Ryan Gorby will serve at John Gregg with Deputy Brian Cave at Stanton, while Deputy Jim Marquis will return for his second year at EHS. Sheriff Abdalla said the JCSO has a great working relationship with the district and Edison makes safety a priority. Pictured are, from left, Superintendent Beattie, Capt.
