The Edison High School FFA chapter is looking to expand its reach into the community and officials are seeking local vendors to take part in events eyed in the not-so-distant future.
Co-Advisor Kristen Truex said the student organization wants to provide a farmer’s market and other venues, but plans are still underway.
“We’re looking for vendors for a farmers market and they can include crafters and homemade items,” Truex said, adding that activities may occur in late summer or early fall. “More information will be sent when the dates are set.”
She said the event was proposed by FFA Sentinel Sydney Newbern while members were brainstorming ideas for community offerings.
“Sydney brought it up and said the FFA used to host one in the school parking lot, and we thought it would be good to do it again,” Truex added. “We’ve been discussing ideas and that was one we wanted to get started. We also want to do a tractor show in the future after it was suggested to bring it back.”
The Classic Tractor Show and Car Cruise-in was held for more than a decade but was shelved during the COVID pandemic. Truex said the activity was a popular draw and there were hopes to reboot the venue. Meanwhile, plans may also be in the works for another Fall Fest Community Day, which featured a dunk tank and chili cook off.
“The chili cookoff went well in October and we plan to do it again,” she commented.
