Steak Fry Fundraiser for Edison Athletics

The Edison High School Athletic Boosters will host its annual Steak Fry and Auction to benefit its sports programs.

The event will be held on March 28 at The Countryside in East Springfield with dinner at 5 p.m. and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $50 and include a meal with all of the fixings, dessert and drinks. Organization leaders said it has been a major moneymaker for the program.

“The annual Steak Fry and Auction is the main fundraiser for the Edison High School Athletic Boosters,” said Booster President Myron Rees. “It will include a steak dinner, dessert and drinks with raffles, games and a live auction. The steak fry has been an annual event for over 30 years.”

About 200 people are expected to attend and food is being provided by Ohio Catering with brownies from the Bette Kaye Bakery and the auction by Cain Realty and Auctioneers. Attendants may also take advantage of a gift card tree raffle and reverse raffle during the evening. Rees said funding from the event will go to the Edison Booster Club to support all of the school’s athletic programs.

“The proceeds will also help to keep Edison sporting events streaming for free via our HUDL services,” he added. “The boosters provide anything that the coaches come to us and ask for outside of uniforms.  During the past year, we have provided thousands of dollars in travel and meal expenses for our teams, bought Guardian Caps for the football team, helped bring our boys’ soccer program back with a generous start-up donation and provided balls for both soccer and volleyball, amongst many other projects.  Our major expenditure each year is to provide HUDL for all of our sports and to livestream nearly every home contest to the public.  HUDL services cost the boosters over $16,000 dollars per year.”

Rees said the benefit has raised more than $20,000 in the past and organizers were hoping to reach that goal again this year.

Tickets will be available at the door the night of the event and more information is available through Edison’s social media platforms or by contacting Rees at (740) 317-5360.
