Our Mission, Vision & Strategic Plan
Prepared for Tomorrow. Every student. Every pathway. Enrolled, enlisted, or employed.
Our Mission
The mission of Edison Local School District is to educate, engage, and inspire all graduates to be employed, enlisted, or enrolled.
This is not aspirational language — it is a daily operating standard. It means every program we offer, every staff member we hire, and every dollar we spend is measured against a single question: Does this prepare our students for what comes next?
Our graduates leave Edison with concrete options. In 2025, 49 went on to college, 56 entered the workforce, 1 enlisted in military service, and 6 earned Associate’s Degrees before they even crossed the graduation stage. That is the mission in action.
Our Vision
“Prepared for Tomorrow”
The guiding vision of Edison Local School District — giving every Wildcat the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in whatever path they choose.
Portrait of a Wildcat
Edison Local graduates are defined not just by what they know, but who they are. Our Portrait of a Wildcat reflects the four qualities we develop in every student, from preschool through graduation:
Committed to the Importance of Learning
Cares About Themselves and Their Community
Confident, Competent, and Ready for Life
Can Communicate and Collaborate
Academic persistence and curiosity
Character, empathy, and service
Self-efficacy and real-world skills
Leadership and teamwork
Our Four Strategic Pillars
Edison Local’s strategic plan is organized around four pillars that guide every decision — from curriculum design to facilities maintenance to community communication. These pillars are not separate tracks; they work together to create a district that is strong in every dimension.
School Culture
A strong school is a place where students and staff want to be. Edison Local invests in a positive, tradition-rooted culture across all three buildings — through athletics, the arts, extracurricular programs, and a daily commitment to belonging. When students feel proud of where they go to school, they show up ready to learn.
Student Success
Edison Local offers one of the most comprehensive PreK–12 academic and career preparation programs in the region. Highlights include a 5-Star Rated Preschool, a nationally Distinguished Project Lead The Way STEM program K–12, 28 College Credit Plus courses with the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree in high school, career-technical pathways in six industry areas, and a Job Ready program that supports students with special needs in building real-world employment skills.
Community Engagement
Edison Local serves 11 communities across 208 square miles. Keeping all of them informed and connected is a responsibility we take seriously. We publish regular newsletters, maintain open Board of Education meetings, communicate proactively about budget and levy matters, and work to build the kind of trust that sustains long-term community investment in our schools.
Operational Effectiveness
Every dollar of community investment must be protected and maximized. Edison Local maintains high standards for fiscal responsibility — including multi-year financial forecasting, competitive purchasing through consortia, annual state audits, and careful management of all district operations. We plan well in advance so we can sustain staffing, programs, and safety without disruption.
