Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

Thank you for the commitment and dedication you have shown since the beginning of the school year. During these unprecedented times you have kept your focus on educating your child(ren), all the while keeping the health and well-being of all at the forefront.

We are pleased that we have had minimal COVID-19 related issues in the Edison Local School District at this time. This is due in part because of our staff and student’s willingness to adhere to the protocols set forth at the beginning of the school year.

Over the summer months we developed our reopening plan in conjunction with our staff, the Jefferson County Health Department and other districts within our county. One of areas addressed was the use of the Risk Level guidelines to decide the educational option and how instruction will be provided to our students.

Based on a meeting with the health department and other local superintendent’s, the method of instruction will now be decided on the data provided by the Jefferson County Health Department in regards to exposure within the Edison Local School district and not Jefferson County in its entirety. The data will include the number of staff and students who test positive for COVID, the number of active cases within the district or a particular school, and the number of staff and students who are who are quarantined. Using the above data and in consultation with the Jefferson County Health Department it will be determined if we continue face to face learning, hybrid or remote instruction. These decisions will be made to impact the least number of staff and students.

Thank you for your commitment to our district each day, as evident by the practices being implemented in the district. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Bill Beattie
Superintendent
